I absolutely love this homemade granola! It’s become my go-to snack— in the morning, in between meals, or even before bedtime.Whether I’m at home or on the move, now I got to have some on hand—tucked into a paper napkin or sealed in a ziplock bag. It’s not only delicious and fun to eat, but it also does a great job of curbing hunger throughout the day.
My son has also finally come around to eating it too! He’s such a picky eater ,so anytime he actually enjoys something is a win for me. I usually top his granola with a drizzle of melted chocolate—and he devours every bite!
Making granola at home is not only super simple but also much more affordable than store-bought options. Plus, you get to control what goes into it—no strange additives or excess sugar. And don’t worry, you won’t need any fancy equipment either!
The best part? It’s easy-peasy! Just toss together your dry ingredients and pour in the wet ones ( or you can mix the wet ones first and add in your dry ingredients), mix well, and spread everything on a baking sheet.
After about 20-30 minutes in the oven, you’ll have a fresh batch of crunchy, golden granola. It’s healthy, customizable, and so delicious—it might just turn you into a homemade granola fan for life!
Why This Recipe Works
After testing several variations, I can confidently say that this homemade granola recipe is just the best. It turns out perfect every single time—perfectly crunchy, not overly sweet, not chewy and golden brown.
And it is super simple to make--5 ingredients and 30 minutes is all you need!

Ingredients You’ll Need
- Old-fashioned rolled oats – The base of your granola. They toast beautifully and give you that classic, hearty crunch.
- Nuts - Your choice of nuts! For this recipe, I went with a mix of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and cashews—my personal favorite blend for added crunch and flavor.
You can add any nut: walnut, almond, pistachio, pecans, peanuts, cashews.
- Oil - You can use vegetable oil, but if you want a healthier granola, use coconut oil. I used the refined version which doesn’t have a strong coconut taste.
- Sea salt- Don’t ever forget this! It’s the magic ingredient that will make all the flavors pop and balance sweetness.
- Maple syrup or honey – Your natural sweetener and binder. Either one works great!
- Vanilla and cinnamon - This duo will make your granola (and kitchen) smell incredible!
- Dried cranberry (optional) - You can use any dried fruit but cranberries just give that sweet tarty taste .

Homemade Granola Tips
Resist the urge to dig in right away! Your homemade granola will continue to crisp up as it cools, so give it a little time to rest. Let it sit on the baking sheet for about 15 minutes after coming out of the oven. It might be tempting to sneak a bite, but that extra wait makes it even crunchier and more delicious—totally worth it!
Line your baking sheet with parchment paper- You don’t want your granola to stick to your pan and be difficult to remove.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks—or freeze for longer shelf life. Enjoy as a snack, breakfast topping, or by the handful!
